After over a month in Panagyurishte, the original Panagyurishte Golden Treasure has departed for Sofia. This was announced by the Historical Museum in the central mountain town. In its place, a replica gifted by the "Aserel-Medet" AD and Prof. Dr. Luchezar Tsotrovkov, a patron of culture, remains on display. The replica, crafted with funds from the company, is housed in a specially built treasure room in the museum courtyard.
Under a three-party agreement, the original Thracian treasure returns to its home city twice annually, where it was discovered on December 8, 1949, by the three Deikov brothers in the "Merul" area near the town. During the national celebrations marking 150 years since the heroic April Uprising in the Fourth Revolutionary District of Panagyurishte, hundreds of thousands of visitors flocked to the treasure room to see the renowned Thracian king's treasure.
The return of the Golden Treasure is a huge deal for Panagyurishte! It's like having a national hero come home. But why limit its exposure? Shouldn't we share it with more people across the Balkans?
