Norway’s head coach, Stale Solbakken, has officially unveiled the 26-player squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup. This announcement marks the Nordic nation’s return to the world’s biggest football stage after a 28-year hiatus. Norway last competed in the World Cup in 1998 in France, where they were eliminated in the round of 16.

The squad, led by Erling Haaland, aims to surpass the achievements of its predecessors who have participated in three World Cups. Haaland, despite a somewhat quieter club season with Manchester City, has continued to demonstrate his unparalleled goal-scoring abilities.

Haaland vs. Mbappé Face-Off

The World Cup will feature a direct confrontation between Haaland and France’s Kylian Mbappé, fueling long-standing debates about which of the two is the superior player. However, Haaland isn’t the only leader of this Norwegian generation; Arsenal’s Martin Ødegaard is also a key figure.

Names like Sørloth, Hauge, Nusa, Bobb, Schjelderup, and Berg are part of the talented generation that will represent Norway in the tournament, to be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Norway is in Group I, alongside France, Senegal, and Iraq.
