Plans to drastically increase the capacity of the Karaiskakis Stadium have hit a snag. According to reports from Sportime, the expansion works, which were set to begin this summer, are on hold due to the lack of necessary construction permits. The "red and whites" of Olympiacos have not yet obtained the required approvals to proceed with the project.
The delay means that all work is currently paused until the permit application is complete and construction can commence. The expansion project aims to increase the stadium's capacity from its current size to 50,000 seats. Due to these works, Olympiacos had planned to play their home matches at the OAKA stadium, as would the Panathinaikos, until their own stadium was ready.
