Four crew members ejected safely following a mid-air collision between two Navy jets during an air show at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho, according to Associated Press reports citing event organizers. Emergency crews responded after the two aircraft collided during the show held at the base in western Idaho.
“All four crew members ejected safely from the aircraft,” Kim Sayre, marketing director for "Silver Wings of Idaho" company, which helped organize the air show, reported. Sayre stated that the crash occurred outside the base, and she did not witness the collision but saw smoke afterward.
The Mountain Home Air Force Base announced on social media that the base was locked down following the incident during the "Gunfighter Skies" air show. Rapid response teams arrived on the scene, and an investigation was initiated.
National Weather Service reports indicated good visibility and gusts up to 48 km/h around the time of the collision.

This is a major safety concern for air shows. How can we ensure such incidents don't happen again? Are there enough safety protocols in place?
