NASCAR Star Kyle Busch Passes Away at 41
Kyle Busch, a NASCAR Cup Series champion twice, known for his aggressive driving style and nicknamed "Rowdy," passed away at the age of 41, his family announced on Thursday, according to Reuters.
The news of his passing came just hours after his family released a statement informing the public that he had been hospitalized due to a serious illness, noted News.ro.
"We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden and tragic death of Kyle Busch," his family, Richard Childress Racing, and NASCAR said in a joint statement. "Our entire NASCAR family is mourning the loss of Kyle Busch. A future Hall of Famer, Kyle was a rare talent, one that comes once in a generation. He was tenacious, passionate, extremely talented, and cared deeply about this sport and its fans."
A Career Marked by Success
Busch was in his 22nd full season in the top division of NASCAR, where he won two Cup Series titles (2015, 2019) and 63 races – a number that places him ninth on the all-time circuit leaderboard.
"I can't believe this news," fellow racer and rival Denny Hamlin said on social media. "We must think about his family in these moments. We love you, KB."
Born in Las Vegas, Busch entered the world of motorsports as a fearless teenager known as "Shrub," the younger brother of fellow Hall of Famer Kurt Busch. However, it was the nickname "Rowdy" – a reference to one of the main characters in the movie "Days of Thunder," due to his aggressive style – that stuck with him.
Busch began his career at Hendrick Motorsports as a promising rookie and later joined Joe Gibbs Racing, where he achieved many of his career milestones. His sudden passing has left the racing community in shock and mourning.
