Nadia Comăneci had a busy weekend as she and her husband, former gymnast Bart Conner, organized the ninth edition of the Hall of Fame in Oklahoma. The 2026 Hall of Fame festivities included the induction of three prominent international gymnasts, continuing the organization's mission to celebrate the greatest performances in the sport.
This time, the inductees were Italian Vanessa Ferrari, Italian Yuri Chechi, and Romanian Cristina Bontaș (53). Bontaș, who has lived in Canada for many years, won a bronze medal in the all-around and a gold medal in the floor exercise at the 1991 World Championships in Indianapolis, USA. At the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, she placed fourth in the all-around and third in the floor exercise.
In 1998, Bontaș married Gabriel Tânțaru, with whom she has two children. Five years later, they opened their own gymnastics club, World Class Gymnastics.
Nadia chose a red dress for the event and was accompanied by her son Dylan and his fiancée. After each Hall of Fame edition, Nadia and Bart invite guests for a few relaxing days in Las Vegas.
In late May, Nadia will return to Romania for the “Nadia Gala” on May 29, marking 50 years since the Olympics in Montreal, where she scored the first perfect 10 in Olympic history. On May 30 and 31, she and Bart will be in Onești for a series of events celebrating the same milestone. At the beginning of June, she will kick off the Olympic cross-country run in Bucharest.
Nadia Comăneci will also be present at the Sports Festival on June 14 at BT Arena in Cluj-Napoca, participating in a masterclass organized in partnership with the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee.
The masterclass will take place from 1:00 PM at BT Arena, with tickets available at the Cluj Arena, costing 95 lei.
On July 10, 2025, President Nicușor Dan signed a decree for the promulgation of the law declaring 2026 as "Nadia Comăneci Year" to commemorate 50 years since Comăneci's legendary performance at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal.
This is amazing! Nadia Comăneci continues to inspire generations of gymnasts. I can't wait to see what she has in store for Romania this year. Will she ever retire from public life? Unlikely!
