The countdown to the 2026 FIFA World Cup continues, and the latest issue of the official magazine features an interview with A National Football Team Coach Vincenzo Montella.
Montella described the team's return to the World Cup after 24 years as indescribable. He expressed his pride in the players, saying, "I felt like I was at the peak of the world. In football, it's hard to get a bigger reward. The Turkish people gave me so much, and I tried to pass that on to the players. I am proud of my players."
Montella highlighted Kenan Yıldız's progress, comparing him to Del Piero. "Kenan has similarities with Del Piero in terms of scoring beautiful goals. However, their playing styles are quite different. Kenan’s greatest improvement is combining his natural talent with the right mindset. He approaches football very positively and is open to growth. It's still too early to confine him to a single position. He can play on the right wing, as a ten, or as a second striker. He is more effective in a broader area, but I want him to enter the penalty box more often. He will score more goals when he does this regularly."
Montella also made a Maradona comparison for Arda Güler. "Arda needs to continue his physical development. However, he is mentally very strong. He can take on many roles on the field. He is loved in Turkey like Maradona was in Napoli. The pressure on him is immense, but he manages it with maturity. His ability to read the game, his instincts, and his decision-making are extraordinary. He can slow down or speed up the tempo of the game and create goal threats."
Montella's praise for these players is well-deserved, but how will they perform under pressure on the world stage? Let's see if they can live up to the hype and deliver in Qatar!
