A memorial service was held today for the late Monahinja Hristina (Rabrenović) at the Church of Saint George under Gorică. Following the service, her body was laid to rest at the Čepurci cemetery in Podgorica, according to a statement from the Metropolitanate of Cetinje.
The service was followed by a speech from the church's priest, Protojerej Mirčeta Šljivančanin. He emphasized the words of God, heard during these Easter days, that all who have done good will be resurrected to life. He encouraged the gathered mourners to remember the deeds of Monahinja Hristina, as it is important to remember good deeds and understand the purpose of our lives.
In his speech, Father Mirčeta highlighted Monahinja Hristina's 20-year dedication and self-sacrifice in Podgorica's churches. Her life, he said, was one of service to God and her fellow human beings. He noted that for her, the church was not merely a second home but the first, and her primary occupation was prayer, work, and service within it. She was often the first to arrive and the last to leave, spending countless days and nights tending to every detail entrusted to her. This devotion earned her the love and respect of all who knew her.
Father Mirčeta also recalled how she spent her final years in this church, loving Christ and the Church, until the end. He expressed hope that she would be resurrected and granted eternal life. The service concluded with Father Mirčeta's words of gratitude for the love and support shown to Monahinja Hristina and a final blessing.
The memorial was attended by a large number of clergy, monastics, family, and faithful believers.
This is a profound reminder of the power of faith and service. Hristina's life shows us what true devotion looks like. How can we all find a way to serve our communities with such passion and dedication?
