Minister of Defense Radu Miruță recently met with supporters of Steaua to address the club's ongoing struggle for promotion rights. The discussion took place at the stadium, where the minister spoke directly to the fans about the steps that can be taken in the coming period to resolve the issue.
Miruță emphasized that he explained to the supporters the possible options within the legal limits of a caretaker government. The primary concern remains Steaua's promotion rights, which the club has not been able to exercise in recent years despite its sporting achievements.
“Tonight, I went to talk with Steaua supporters. At the stadium, where the souls of these people have been humiliated for years by political decisions. Beyond the poisoned noise pushed by those who do not want Steaua in the top league, beyond the false news spread, I went to speak openly about all the possible steps we can take together in the coming period. As much as a caretaker government is legally allowed to do. What concerns me the most about this issue is the injustice,” Miruță wrote on his personal Facebook page.
Miruță believes that Steaua should be judged based on its performance on the field, not by decisions made outside of it. He stated that passionate supporters who attend matches in all weather and athletes who win on the field should not be sidelined by financial interests in the sport.
According to Fanatik, Becali commented, “I talked with Miruță. He wants to create a non-profit association. Non-profit means that three columns and seven generals, i.e., associated members, should come. It needs to be private, not the Army. Let them do it. Let them create an association. Let's see who will give millions to use a brand. After that, something else comes. Associated members elect a chairman. They will ask for control, generals and columns. The private comes with money, gives millions to CSA, gives another 10 million euros, but others should lead, not him.”
Miruță's visit was a bold move, but will it be enough to fix Steaua's long-standing promotion issues? The club deserves fair treatment based on their results, not political games. What do you think?
