Former Lazio and Germany striker Mirosław Klose might return to the club as an assistant coach if Maurizio Sarri decides to leave at the end of the season, reports La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 67-year-old Italian Sarri has made it clear that he is unhappy with the ongoing season. He returned to the team in the summer of 2025, signing a two-year contract. As the last round of the Italian championship approaches, Lazio is in ninth place with 51 points from 37 matches.

The main candidate for the assistant coach position is 47-year-old German Klose, who currently works at 2. Bundesliga club Nürnberg, with a contract until June 30, 2028. The team finished eighth in the league.

Sarri could potentially replace Rafaelle Paladino at Atalanta or Antonio Conte at Napoli.
