Bulgarian Minister Assures Safety of Nearby Lakes After Landslide

Bulgarian Agriculture Minister Ivan Hristakov has assured the public there is no risk to the nearby lakes following a recent landslide near Smolyan. Hristakov made the comments in an interview with Nova TV, emphasizing the prompt actions taken to ensure safety.

Half an hour after the landslide occurred, teams were immediately organized to inspect the area and check for any leaks into the nearby lakes. Minister Hristakov emphasized that the quick response was aimed at ensuring there would be no contamination of the water bodies. "There are no issues, which is great," he stated.

The landslide took place between the towns of Smolyan and Pamporovo, prompting immediate concern over the potential environmental impact. However, the swift mobilization of inspection teams has so far indicated that no such risks have materialized, alleviating public fears.
