Mihaela Cambei, a 23-year-old athlete from Bacău, Romania, became a national hero after winning the country's first-ever silver medal in women's weightlifting at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Two years later, she shattered the European record at the Batumi European Championships. In an extensive interview, Cambei revealed her simple yet balanced diet, emphasizing energy and recovery.

Cambei explained, "I eat chicken breast, fish, rice, potatoes, eggs, and sometimes vegetables. These foods help me maintain energy and recover better." A typical day for her includes eggs for breakfast, meat with rice for lunch, and a lighter dinner.

She also highlighted the discipline and consistency required in her sport, noting that the daily routine is often unseen from the outside. Her day is meticulously planned, starting around 8:00–8:30 AM, followed by training sessions, recovery, and another round of training later in the day.

Cambei comes from a financially modest background, with a sister and a brother who shares her passion for weightlifting. Her parents, who are farmers, have always supported her, especially when they allowed her to leave home at the tender age of nine to start training. She spent a year at Onești Club, where she was coached by Cristina Maftei, and then moved to the junior lot in Botoșani, where her journey in competitive sports began.

Cambei also praised the camaraderie among female weightlifters, emphasizing the importance of encouragement and respect in a competitive environment. She encouraged young women in Romania to take up weightlifting, highlighting the sport's benefits for strength, discipline, and self-confidence.
