Ivan Lendl's absence from the tournament hasn’t affected Daniil Medvedev’s preparation. “It doesn’t impact me because I’ve never made it past the quarterfinals here. If I manage to reach the later stages this year, not having to face the top players in the final stages is definitely positive,” Medvedev told the press.

Support from Djokovic

Regarding Novak Djokovic’s absence from recent player protests, Medvedev stated, “It’s not a problem. Each player has the right to make their own decisions. Novak is experienced enough to know his stance. He’s always been proactive about player issues. I expect him to support us, even if not through the media. My full support goes to Novak, and I’m confident he supports all players and our efforts.”

Physical Demands and Injuries

Medvedev also addressed the physical demands of tennis and the frequent injuries. “The season could be shorter, maybe by a couple of weeks or a month, which would give players more flexibility. After the season, if someone wants a three-week break, it’s not practical now. If you take three weeks off after the Masters in Turin, you’re practically missing the Australian Open. The only way to reduce injuries might be to shorten the season, even if it means less money for players.”
