Marseille to Pay Compensation to Arsenal Over Ethan Nwaneri

Marseille will pay compensation to Arsenal due to the limited playing time of loaned player Ethan Nwaneri. The French club used the English player very little since his winter transfer.

The transfer initially seemed mutually beneficial for both clubs. Nwaneri, who has significant potential, was unlikely to get much playing time at Arsenal, where manager Mikel Arteta had brought in several players for the same position. Marseille, on the other hand, hoped that he would contribute to their fight for the French title.

🚨 Under the loan agreement finalized in January, Marseille agreed to pay an initial fee of around £1.3M, along with additional compensation if Nwaneri did not play a certain number of matches. The young English national scored a goal just 13 minutes into his debut against Lens, raising hopes among Marseille fans. However, the club faced serious issues in the second half of the season, and Nwaneri gradually lost his place in the lineup. This situation will further impact Marseille financially as per the agreement’s clause.
