FC Botoșani's coach, Marius Croitoru, has harshly criticized his players following a 2-0 loss to Csikszereda in the 9th match of the Superliga play-out stage. The defeat marks the end of FC Botoșani's play-off hopes, as they now cannot finish higher than 3rd in this phase of the competition. This result also represents a setback before their upcoming Europa Conference League playoff against FCSB.

Croitoru expressed his disappointment with the team's performance and attitude, stating, "When you lose 0-2, you can say you haven't succeeded. We had many players missing, but that doesn't excuse our missed opportunities and our defeat. What bothers me is the attitude of some players, who believe that we coaches allow them to play casually. This is the risk. They play how they want, and we coaches pay the price."

The team will face FCSB in the first round of the Europa Conference League playoff, and Croitoru emphasized the need for a change in mentality. "If we present ourselves defensively as we did in this match, we will have serious problems against FCSB. This is football; the team that scores more goals wins. We didn't have opportunities, and we couldn't capitalize on them, that's the bottom line."

The upcoming match against FCSB is crucial, as the winner will face the 4th place team from the play-off, likely to be either Dinamo or CFR Cluj, in the next round.
