The gavel has fallen, and the throne remains occupied. Goran Marinković has been re-elected as the General Secretary of the Sports Association of Serbia, locking in a mandate that stretches all the way to 2030. This wasn't a close contest; the decision was adopted unanimously during the regular session of the Assembly, held today within the hallowed halls of the National Assembly of Serbia. The mandate is clear, the leadership is steady, and the future of Serbian sports administration has a captain at the helm for another four years.
Board Shakeups and Financial Clarity
While Marinković keeps the reins, the board sees new faces. The 162 delegates in attendance voted to fill critical vacancies on the Supervisory Board. Miloš Teofilović and Zoran Milić were elected to serve until December 27, 2029. They step in to replace Velizar Đerić, who has passed away, and Miodrag Rakić, who submitted his resignation. The transition is smooth, ensuring continuity in oversight.
The business of the day also included a thorough review of the books. The Assembly approved the financial and audit reports for 2025, alongside the work report and the Supervisory Board report for the same period. Every line item was scrutinized, every number verified. Transparency isn't just a buzzword here; it's a requirement. The May Awards for 2026 were also officially approved, setting the stage for the evening's ceremony.
Glory in the May Awards
When the suits were donned and the speeches concluded, the real spectacle began. The May Awards ceremony honored the titans of Serbian sport. Angelina Topić claimed the title for Athlete in Olympic Sports, while Lazar Filipović took home the award for Athlete with a Disability. The Kikinda Sports Association was recognized as the outstanding Territorial Sports Association.
Lea Blagojević shone in non-Olympic sports, and Dragutin Topić was honored as the leading Sports Expert. The organization award went to DŽK "Crvena zvezda," while the Boxing Association of Serbia was named the best Branch Sports Association. Predrag Sarić received the nod for Sports Journalist, and Petar Bogunović for Sports Functionary. The Lifetime Achievement Award, the crown jewel, went to legends Ljubomir Ljubojević and Zoran Slavnić.
Minister of Sport Zoran Gajić, along with ministers Nenad Vujić and Jelena Žarić Kovačević, attended the session and ceremony, standing alongside sports federation officials, club members, and representatives from the Olympic and Paralympic movements. Every vote was unanimous. Every cheer was genuine. The house is in order.
majske nagrade su uvek dobra prilika da se vidi ko je ko u sportu. Marinković opet na čelu, stabilnost je bitna stvar. Topić zasluženo, ali da li će imati sličan uspeh sledeće godine? vremenom ćemo videti...
