England's Charlie Manby, 20, made a spectacular debut on the European Tour at the International Darts Open, defeating an off-form Niko Springer 6-3. Manby's victory came in the first round of the competition held in Germany, marking his maiden appearance on the European Tour circuit.

In his winning match, Manby secured an early lead by striking an 11-dart leg, taking a decisive 4-1 advantage. Despite Springer's efforts, including checkouts of 92 and 112, Manby maintained his composure to secure the win.

Manby's Confidence

"As soon as I got up here, I felt at home, so it was a good start," Manby said. "The first one is always the best. I'm just grateful to be here in front of a good crowd, and be on stage again."

Manby will face Ryan Searle, who reached the semi-finals of the World Championship, in the next round. "I think Ryan and I are both top-quality players," Manby added. "I know I'm good enough as well, and I've got the belief in myself that I need to be here."

Doets Dominates

Kevin Doets also made headlines with a brutal 6-0 victory over Tom Bissell. The Dutch player, who finished second at the Austrian Darts Open earlier in May, averaged 102.48 and missed just one dart at double in a sparkling performance. This win marked Doets' fifth consecutive round two appearance on the European Tour this year.

Elsewhere, Rob Cross secured a 11-leg victory over Dirk van Duijvenbode, advancing to round two. Karel Sedlacek also scored a whitewash win over Johan Engstrom, setting up a match against Martin Schindler. Krzysztof Ratajski defeated Cristo Reyes 6-4, and Joe Cullen edged past Chris Landman in a last-leg decider. Kim Huybrechts maintained his form by defeating Daryl Gurney 6-2.

Eight-time European Tour winner Dave Chisnall will face James Wade in round two after a 6-3 victory over Liam Maendl-Lawrence. Other notable wins include Ricardo Pietreczko over Maik Kuivenhoven and Niels Zonneveld over Keane Barry.
