Lucian Filip, 35, has stepped down as the head coach of FCSB after their loss to FC Hermannstadt in the final match of the Romanian Superliga playoff on May 18, 2026. He attributed the loss to the absence of key players, including Cisotti, Florin Tănase, and Darius Olaru. FCSB lined up with an experimental starting lineup, which resulted in a 2-0 defeat to the home team.
"We should have won this game, even if we were playing with younger players," Filip stated to DigiSport. "I am disappointed with the loss. We are a big club, and it does not sit well with me."
Following the match, Gigi Becali announced an agreement with Marius Baciu, who will take over as the new head coach for a one-year contract, stepping into training the next day.
Baciu has big shoes to fill after Filip's departure. Can he turn things around and bring the club back to its winning ways? Time will tell, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. What do you think, fellow fans?
