Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Cologne defender Sara Agrez on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old will join on 1 July after spending two and a half years with the Frauen-Bundesliga side. Capped 57 times by Slovenia, left-sided centre-back Agrez made her international debut in 2019. She started 23 of Cologne's 26 league games as they finished seventh.

Agrez’s Career Journey

Before joining Cologne, Agrez played for ZNK Mura in Slovenia and German clubs Turbine Potsdam and Wolfsburg. Her experience across several top-tier leagues will be a valuable addition to the Liverpool squad.

Impact on the Women's Super League

Liverpool legend Gemma Bonner and fellow defender Gemma Evans will leave when their contracts expire this summer. Agrez's arrival is expected to strengthen the team's defense ahead of the upcoming season. The Women’s Super League is poised to see a significant impact with such transfers, as clubs continue to bolster their lineups.
