Continuing her rehabilitation journey, Lindsey Vonn, the 41-year-old former Olympic champion, made a bold appearance at the Met Gala in New York City on Monday evening. This came just three months after her severe injury during the Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, which necessitated multiple surgeries on her left leg.
Vonn, who was invited to the annual Met Gala, a glittering event that attracts numerous celebrities and athletes, made her appearance without the aid of crutches, a significant milestone in her recovery. The skier had previously shared images on her social media platforms showing her taking her first steps at the hotel where she was staying.
Vonn returned to the United States in the middle of February following a series of surgeries on her left leg. She revealed that she had narrowly avoided amputation thanks to the intervention of her doctor, Dr. Tom Hackett.
Although she has not ruled out a return to competition, Vonn took a break from skiing in 2024, after a five-year hiatus, with the aim of participating in the Winter Olympics.
