Koeman: Netherlands Not Favorites, But Can Beat Anyone

Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman expressed confidence that his team possesses the necessary quality to overcome any opponent at the World Cup, even though they are not considered front-runners for the title.

The Netherlands have reached three finals but have yet to secure a World Cup gold medal. In the group stage, the Dutch team will face Japan, Sweden, and Tunisia.

"People may not see us as one of the favorites to win the title. Our strength lies in our ability to beat anyone because the talent is entirely within our team. Our composition is on the right path," Koeman stated in an interview with the official FIFA website.

The 63-year-old coach, who has yet to announce the World Cup squad, returned as coach in 2023 following Louis van Gaal's guidance that led the team to the quarterfinals in the previous edition in Qatar.

"I want my players to play with confidence, with individuality, understanding their qualities. I want people to see that there is intensity in our representation. I don't want to hear comments that we haven't done enough. We must always respect our opponents, whether they are so-called small nations. We cannot afford to be caught off guard by such adversaries," Koeman added.
