Nikola Jokić missed out on the MVP title for the second consecutive year, despite leading in statistical categories. This time, the honor went to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of Oklahoma.
In response, a video surfaced showing that Jokić's teammates, including Nikola Topić, received valuable gifts as a gesture of gratitude from the new NBA MVP. The gifts consisted of luxury "Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver" watches, each valued at around $40,000.
Recalling the previous season, Shai had gifted his teammates "Rolex" watches, making this a tradition. It remains to be seen if he will also secure the NBA Championship ring, as he did in previous seasons.
Oklahoma dominated in the first round of the playoffs, defeating Phoenix Suns with a convincing 4-0 series win. They also excelled in the second round against Los Angeles Lakers. In the conference finals, they will face San Antonio Spurs.
Another MVP title snatched from Jokić's grasp! It’s almost like the league can't handle his dominance. But hey, those Audemars Piguet watches are something to be proud of. Will Jokić ever get his due as the MVP? Or will the league keep finding ways to deny him? #NBAJustice
