John McGinn: A Wonderful Journey to Europa League Final

Aston Villa Captain Speaks Ahead of Europa League Final Against Freiburg

In a press conference ahead of tomorrow's UEFA Europa League final between Aston Villa and Freiburg at Beşiktaş Park, Aston Villa's captain John McGinn discussed his team's journey and their approach to the match.

"We've taken every game and every round with the same level of seriousness this season," McGinn said. "We have excellent players and goalkeepers. We've grown with the team, and we want to win tomorrow to lift the trophy."

McGinn, 31, highlighted Aston Villa's recent successes and their continued progress. "I think so because without that experience, Aston Villa wouldn't be here. The club changed hands. This journey has been a wonderful one. Everyone has contributed to the club's growth. I think seeing the fans tomorrow will be beautiful for us. I hope we can give them something memorable."

He also emphasized the importance of staying calm against Freiburg. "As a player, I've grown and made progress. Working with top players, you learn something every day. I think I learn something every day. Of course, there are many people behind the scenes. As a player, I try to contribute with goals and assists. This season, I've scored 10 goals; I hope that number will be 11 or 12 tomorrow."

McGinn concluded by emphasizing the ups and downs of the season. "It's been an incredible journey with all the ups and downs. I'm proud of where the club is and where it's going. We won't rush into celebration. We know how good Freiburg is. We respect our opponent. As captain, the greatest moment of pride is achieving great success with Aston Villa."
