Sergej Jakirović and Hull City have reached the Championship playoff final against Middlesbrough, a match worth an estimated £230 million. The game, set for Saturday at 17:30 on Wembley, is considered one of the most valuable matches in the world. The winner of this final will secure the third and final Premier League spot.
Jakirović and his team have defied expectations to reach this stage. After 46 league matches, Hull City secured the sixth position in the Championship, qualifying for the playoffs. They advanced to the final by defeating Millwall in the semi-final with a 2:0 away victory. In an interview with the Denis Podcast, Jakirović said:
"At the start of the season, everyone predicted we would end up 23rd. Especially after we were banned from player transfers for three transfer windows. Everyone expected us to be relegated. But I love being underestimated. Here we are, nine months later, playing for a place in the Premier League. I told the players to enjoy it. None of us feels any pressure."
