The world champion in Moto3 for 2022, Izan Guevara, secured his second victory in the Moto2 class of the world motorcycle championship at the Bugatti Circuit in Le Mans, France. The race was shortened to just nine of the planned 22 laps due to a series of interruptions, including a red flag shown after the third lap. The incident that triggered the red flag was Jorge Navarro's crash at the exit of the final turn, which led to marshals being deployed on the start-finish straight.
Guevara, who had been performing strongly all weekend, dominated the restart, finishing with a half-second lead over Manuel Gonzalez. Ivan Ortolá completed the podium, marking his first Moto2 podium finish of 2026. Alonso López and David Alonso finished fourth and fifth, respectively, followed by Celestino Vietti, Senna Ajji, Joe Roberts, Filip Salac, and Aron Canet, who rounded out the top 10. Points were also earned by Dani Olgado, Sergio Garcia, Jozan van der Goot, Deniz Oncu, and Tony Arbolino.
Olgado, who had crashed in the original start, benefited from the red flag and was able to restart, but lost nine positions due to contact with teammate Alvaro Parente, finishing in 11th place. Despite Guevara's victory, the overall championship leader after five races of the season is Manuel Gonzalez, who is now 9.5 points ahead of Guevara. Senna Ajji, who finished seventh in Le Mans, fell to third place in the standings, 20.5 points behind Gonzalez.
The 2026 Moto2 season will continue next week with the Catalan Grand Prix in Barcelona.
