International Police Association Tournament Concludes in Pozar
The second International Police Association (IPA) tournament concluded successfully in Pozar, Greece, from May 19-21. The event brought together numerous police departments from across the country, emphasizing a competitive spirit alongside camaraderie and teamwork.
The tournament's primary goal was to strengthen relationships among police officers from across Greece, fostering a climate of cooperation and respect. Participants were able to blend competition with collegiality, giving the IPA event a unique character.
Tournament Results and Highlights
The first day of the tournament determined the brackets for positions 1-8, with teams advancing to the final rankings. Teams from Zakynthos, Achaia, Alexandroupolis, Thessaloniki, Corinth, Magnesia, Pella, and Lefkada advanced to the main competition.
In the pre-elimination matches, a standout game was between Thessaloniki and Zakynthos, which was decided in a penalty shootout. Zakynthos secured a place in the semi-finals in one of the most competitive games of the tournament.
The semi-final matches saw Alexandroupolis defeat Zakynthos 4-0, advancing to the final. In the second semi-final, Pella and Corinth had an intense match that also went to penalties. The final saw Alexandroupolis beat Corinth 3-0 to claim first place. Zakynthos defeated Pella 2-0 in the third-place match.
The awards ceremony, presided over by Theodoros Zagorakis, added a special touch to the final of the second Police Association tournament. All teams were commended for their overall presence and participation in the event.
