The air in Belgrade is thick with tension, and the crisis at FK Partizan shows no signs of cooling down. But amidst the chaos, one voice has cut through the noise with a message that reverberates through the stands of Partizan Stadium. Ivica Iliev, the former sports director of the black-and-white giants, has issued a desperate, unfiltered plea: the club’s salvation lies in the return of a single name. Saša Ilić.

The Only Light in the Tunnel

Speaking on the "Razgovori sa Zlojutrom" show, Iliev didn't mince words. He argued that the current situation is so volatile that any other coach would be met with hostility, greeted with knives drawn. But Ilić? He is different. He is the legend. The man born by the club, shaped by its concrete and its colors. Iliev believes he is the only figure capable of sensing the heartbeat of Partizan and calming the storm.

"The only way out for the football club Partizan is the arrival and return of Saša Ilić as coach," Iliev stated firmly. "He is the only one who can best feel Partizan. A true legend, the man with the most matches, someone whom Partizan gave birth to and created. This is my appeal to the black-and-white army: stand behind this and say, 'Sale, come back, please.'" The passion in that statement is palpable, a direct line to the soul of the fanbase.

Unity Over Division

The club is currently fractured, torn apart by internal divisions that have plagued the organization for months. Iliev acknowledges the club is a machine that grinds men down, offering no time to waste. Yet, he insists that Ilić is the only person who can gather people around him after hitting rock bottom. The proposal is simple yet bold: give Ilić the reins. Let him build the team, select the players, and take two or three years to reset the finances.

Crucially, Iliev believes Ilić could silence even the most impatient supporter. He would bring peace, the most vital commodity right now. With two warring factions inside the club, neither side knows which is worse. Whoever wins that internal battle will soon have to cede ground to someone more capable. Ilić, however, could carry that transition. He could steer Partizan through this dark period.

Will Ilić accept? Iliev admits he isn't sure. Perhaps Ilić refused earlier because he knew the mess he was walking into. Maybe he will refuse again. But according to Iliev, if you ask him, there is no other solution. Saša Ilić remains the only light at the end of the tunnel for the beleaguered Belgrade club.
