Croatian boxer Filip Hrgović (33) convincingly defeated Dave Allen (34) by technical knockout in the third round of their fight in Doncaster, England. The local fighter's corner threw in the towel to prevent Hrgović from knocking Allen out. Hrgović's dominant performance secured his 20th career victory, with this being his third consecutive win and 15th knockout.
"I thought I was boxing well, but he was too strong for me"
Allen commented after the match: "Sometimes it just happens, and I was overpowered tonight. I'm proud and grateful that so many people came to watch. I trained as hard as I could and gave everything in the ring. I thought I was boxing well, but he was too strong for me. I'm completely exhausted, but I feel like a winner."
Hrgović established his dominance from the first second in the ring. He immediately took control, pressed Allen against the ropes, and bombarded him with powerful punches, convincingly securing the first round. This scenario continued into the second round, with Hrgović combining head and body strikes while Allen's attempts were short and ineffective.
Dominance and Interruption
Allen barely survived the second round, visibly drained from Hrgović's powerful punches. In the third round, the story came to an end. Hrgović's right hand continually broke through Allen's guard, forcing him to grab the ropes for air. After a series of punches left Allen on the verge of a knockout, a towel was thrown in from Allen's corner, signaling the end of the fight.
Hrgović secured his third consecutive victory. His last fight was against David Adeleye in August last year, which he won by referee's decision, and before that, he defeated Joe Joyce in April last year, also by referee's decision. With three consecutive wins following a loss to Daniel Dubois, Hrgović is now on the path to the world title. His next opponent is expected to be English boxer Moses Itauma.
