The miraculous belt of the Virgin Mary and parts of Christ's Holy Cross, the most significant relics in the Christian world, will arrive in Belgrade on May 20 ahead of the city's Ascension Day celebrations, known as Spasovdan, as reported by Radio Slovoljubve.
The relics will be brought to Belgrade via a special flight by the igumen of the Vatopedi monastery on Mount Athos, Jefrem, accompanied by his brotherhood. According to an Instagram post, the relics will be received in front of the Ascension Church at 5:00 PM, where Serbian Patriarch Porfirije will conduct a festive vespers service.
A traditional Slavic liturgy will take place from Ascension Church to St. Sava Church, led by the Virgin Mary through her miraculous belt, the only personal relic remaining after her ascension into heaven. The procession will begin at 7:00 PM and will bless and sanctify the gathered faithful and the streets and squares of the city.
The call to participate reads, "Let us join the Holy festive liturgy, receive the blessing of the Mother of God, and venerate the miraculous belt of the Heavenly Queen from Ascension Church to St. Sava Church on Thursday, May 21."
This is an incredible opportunity for believers and history buffs alike! Will you be there to witness the power and tradition of these relics, or are you skeptical about their significance? Let me know in the comments!
