Immediately following Manchester City's loss of the Premier League title, Pep Guardiola addressed the speculation surrounding his departure from the club. In the last few days, there has been much talk about the Spanish coach's possible exit from one of Britain's most decorated teams. Guardiola has written history in the 10 years he has spent at Manchester City, winning 20 trophies.
This season, City secured two trophies and was just one step away from a "treble," but Arsenal clinched the title with a match to spare after City drew 1-1 with Bournemouth. Guardiola, who has a year left on his contract, became the subject of discussion as British media speculated that he might leave. At the end of the match, Guardiola stated that he would discuss his future with the club president after the season concludes.
"I could say I have one year left on my contract, and from the many, many years of experience I have, when you announce anything during the competition, the result is very, very bad. The first person I need to talk to is the president of my club, because we decided that at the end of the season, we would sit down and talk. That's it. Then we will make a decision," Guardiola said to Sky Sports.
Guardiola continued, "I am the happiest person on Earth to be at this club, this club is simply extraordinary. Right now, the season has ended for us, we want to reach the last game together with our fans, and I know they will come. In 10 seasons, they have been with us in so many, many moments, and that's what we need to do until the end."
Guardiola, 55, has accumulated a total of 39 trophies with Barcelona and Bayern Munich, along with his 20 titles at Manchester City.
