NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo publicly supported Greece’s Eurovision representative, Akylas, after the conclusion of Eurovision 2026 in Austria. Despite Greece finishing in 10th place overall in the competition, Antetokounmpo praised the Greek singer following the Grand Final.
Antetokounmpo shared a photo of Akylas performing on stage via social media and wrote the caption: “My winner.” Akylas represented Greece with the song Ferto, which earned a total of 220 points in the Grand Final. Greece received 73 points from national juries, placing 12th in the jury vote, before gaining an additional 147 points from the public televote, which secured a top-10 finish.
The singer’s rise attracted significant attention in Greece and internationally. Reports indicated that Akylas had performed as a street musician only months before appearing on the Eurovision stage, marking a rapid ascent to the global contest.
