George Russell: Miami Race Was Necessary but Painful

British Formula 1 driver George Russell of Mercedes is convinced that the challenging weekend in Miami was "necessary" but also "painful."

Following the Miami Grand Prix, where his teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli secured his third consecutive victory in the last three races, the Italian holds a 20-point lead over Russell in the fight for the championship.

"Many Formula 1 drivers are still working on energy management during races - acknowledged Russell. - At the same time, we have to take care of the tires, settings – the basic things in races, but all of this takes a backseat due to the energy management.

"We missed some crucial things because we were focused on something else, and in Miami, we received a good reminder of what is important. It was painful, but also very necessary, as it will help me a lot for the rest of the season."
