The French rider Paul Magnier secured victory in the first stage of the Giro d'Italia, marking the 109th edition of the prestigious cycling race which began in Bulgaria. Magnier finished first after an intense sprint in the 147-kilometer flat stage from Nesebar to Burgas.

The winning time was 3 hours, 21 minutes, and 08 seconds. Second and third places went to Tobias Lund Andersen (Denmark) and Ethan Vernon (Great Britain), respectively. Favored rider Jonathan Milan (Italy) finished fourth.

Several competitors and the main peloton finished with the winner's time. However, 500 meters before the finish line, a mass crash occurred in the peloton, allowing only the first ten to cross the finish line normally.

Milan led the main peloton during the intermediate sprint but failed to maintain his position in the final sprint, where Magnier showcased his composure and endurance to secure his first stage victory in a Grand Tour.

The second stage will take place tomorrow, running from Burgas to Veliko Tarnovo, covering a distance of 221 kilometers.
