Freiburg Captain Christian Günter Aims for Europa League Trophy

Freiburg's captain, Christian Günter, spoke ahead of the Europa League final against Aston Villa.

The UEFA Europa League final will see German side Freiburg and English representatives Aston Villa face off on the pitch tomorrow at 10:00 PM. In anticipation of the final, which will take place in Beşiktaş Park in Istanbul, Freiburg's captain Christian Günter addressed the press.

Günter began his remarks by acknowledging the special nature of the moment. "There is immense anticipation. When you enter the stadium, you feel energized and want to get on the pitch right away. Today, we have a training session. It will be a special day for us. We hope for a great final. Ultimately, we want to lift the trophy. We must avoid panic at any moment of the game. It’s more sensible to follow a smart strategy than to attempt to convert every opportunity into a goal."

When asked about the historical significance of the upcoming final for the club, Günter responded, "It will be our club’s first trophy in history. It will be a very special victory. We aim to fulfill our dreams and do our best for the club, fans, and ourselves. I noted that our opponents have excellent individual players, but I didn't say they are an unbeatable team. We have matured and worked hard throughout the season. We will demonstrate the fruit of our labor tomorrow. The technical staff will be with us during tough times. We won't have a goal-scoring opportunity in every minute, so we must play carefully."

Günter emphasized the unique nature of the final for his team. "We are completely focused. Everyone is eagerly awaiting tomorrow’s match. Losing in a previous final is not a disadvantage for us. We will look back on the past tonight. It's significant to be here with my favorite club since childhood. We have experienced a lot together and have worked hard. We will continue to focus on the match until tomorrow night."
