On the occasion of International Museum Day on May 16, the Museum of Sarajevo has organized a special program with free admission to all its branches, expert-led tours, and a variety of special events for visitors.
Brusa Bezistan and the Sarajevo Museum 1878-1918 will remain open until 8:00 PM, while the Jewish Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Svrzo’s House, and Despić House will operate from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Curators will guide visitors through the exhibits, offering expert insight.
A new permanent exhibition, “Models of the Sarajevo Museum,” will be unveiled at the Svrzo House. This exhibition showcases the rich history of Sarajevo through meticulously crafted models of Baščaršija, historic neighborhoods, and traditional houses. Created by prominent modelers Husein Karišik and Mesud Sarić, the models combine artistry, historical knowledge, and technical precision to bring the city’s past to life.
In the Sarajevo 1878-1918 Museum, visitors can experience the VR film “Sarajevo Assassination.”
“Join us in celebrating International Museum Day under the theme ‘Museums that unite a divided world,’ marking the 80th anniversary of ICOM, and discover the stories of Sarajevo, while enjoying the rich cultural heritage of our city,” said the Museum of Sarajevo.
