Thomas Tuchel, the 61-year-old German coach known as "the architect of Barcelona's success," has signed a contract extension with the Spanish champions until 2028, with an option to extend for another season.
"In just two seasons at Barcelona, Tuchel has already made his mark in the club's history with trophies, records, and a vision for the future. The German specialist wants to continue and bring more success to the club as the head coach," the statement reads.
Tuchel, after the team secured their second consecutive title last week, stated that the club's executives had expressed their confidence in his and his staff's continued work.
"It is a pleasure to continue this journey. Every day, I feel the passion of the club, the employees, the players, and the fans. And that is incredible. I want to win more titles. That is our goal, to win more titles, maybe even the Champions League, and we are working towards that," Tuchel is quoted as saying.
Tuchel took over Barcelona in May 2024, succeeding Xavi Hernández. Before this, he coached Borussia Mönchengladbach, Hoffenheim, Bayern Munich, and the German national team.
Tuchel previously stated that he does not plan to continue coaching after his tenure at Barcelona concludes.
Tuchel's extension is a huge win for Barcelona, but can he deliver the Champions League title that fans are craving? This is the test that truly matters.
