After a dominant victory over English boxer Dave Allen, all eyes turned to the next challenge for "El Animal." Now, an unofficial confirmation has emerged that Filip Hrgović (33) will fight Moses Itauma on August 8 at the O2 Arena in London, as revealed by George Warren, son of Hrgović’s promoter Frank Warren.
"The contract is in my office. It's almost done, it's a settled matter. When Filip re-signed with Queensberry, he signed up with the obligation of certain fights, one of which was Moses, so the terms with Filip have been agreed upon," Warren told iFL TV.
Itauma (21) is one of the most promising British heavyweights, unbeaten in his professional career with 14 wins, 12 by knockout. Many see him as the future of the heavyweight category, and Hrgović will have the opportunity to step up several notches and position himself as a real challenger for the top titles.
Hrgovii, on the other hand, has strung together three consecutive victories following his sole career loss in June 2024, when he fought for the IBF title against Daniel Dubois.
"Moses is barely waiting. He needs to box. He was calling for Hrgović. He was almost angry with us for arranging the fight between Allen and Hrgović because he said, 'I wanted to fight him,'" Warren added, indicating that everything is almost agreed upon and awaiting official confirmation.
