FCSB is currently experiencing one of its most challenging periods in the last decade. After a disastrous Superliga season that ended in the play-out phase and without achieving any set objectives, the club finds itself in the unprecedented position of fighting for a place in the Conference League. This Sunday at 8:30 PM, FCSB will play the semi-final of the Conference League qualifier against FC Botoșani at Ghencea Stadium. Should they defeat the Moldovans, FCSB will face Dinamo Bucharest in the final for the last European spot.

Eight Players Leaving FCSB

FCSB has reached the lower part of the table for the first time since the introduction of the play-off/play-out system. More worryingly, the team did not even win the play-out!

The club ended the season in second place with 37 points, behind UTA Arad, who finished with 39 points. The season was marked by scandals, changes in coaching, harsh statements from the club’s owner, and underperformances from key players. The bill is now due. According to information and statements made by Gigi Becali and Mihai Stoica, at least eight players are already known to be leaving.

The black list includes:

  • Vlad Chiricheș
  • Risto Radunovic
  • David Kiki
  • Daniel Graovac
  • Ofri Arad
  • Mamadou Thiam
  • Dennis Politic
  • Lukas Zima

There are also major questions surrounding the futures of Florin Tănase and Ștefan Târnovanu.

Vlad Chiricheș, Becali's First Sacrifice

The situation with Vlad Chiricheș is already clear. Repeated injuries and inconsistent performances have led Gigi Becali to make the final decision.

“All players depend on Mirel, except Chiricheș, who depends on me, and I know he's 100% leaving in the summer,” Becali stated in April.

Chiricheș’s contract expires this summer, and the separation is inevitable. He played 23 matches this season without scoring any goals.
