Greek basketball team Panathinaikos has made a significant but unfortunate entry into the annals of Euroleague history. The team's center, Mathias Lessort, has become the first player in Euroleague history to lose two playoff series after his team had led 2-0 in both instances. This dubious achievement came after Panathinaikos lost the fifth game of the series against Valencia, with a score of 64-81.

In the 2023 Euroleague playoffs, Partizan Belgrade also suffered a similar fate, leading 2-0 but ultimately losing the series to Real Madrid, who went on to win the Euroleague title that year. Lessort, who was part of the Partizan team in 2023, has now become the only player to lose in two playoff series after his team had a 2-0 lead.

The 30-year-old French center recorded average statistics of 7.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, and an efficiency index of 13.2 in the five games against Valencia.

This setback marks a dark chapter in the career of Lessort and Panathinaikos, who now face the disappointment of falling from a strong position in the playoffs.
