The EuroLeague's Final Four is not a result of chance or good timing in the playoffs, but a reflection of the season's consistent top performers.

The numbers from the regular season revealed which teams truly stood out throughout the year. The graph of offensive and defensive ratings confirms this with absolute clarity. Olympiacos, Real Madrid, Valencia, and Fenerbahçe emerged as the most productive teams, combining high offensive output with defensive stability. The "red-whites" especially stand out in the European elite due to their defensive consistency and overall balance throughout the season.

Interestingly, the regular season picture was almost identical in the playoffs. Olympiacos excelled with a top-tier offense (ORTG 123) and solid defense, while Real Madrid presented a balanced profile with a high offensive rating (121.6).

Valencia impressed with strong offense and better defense than Panathinaikos, while Fenerbahçe relied on elite defensive performance. Panathinaikos had commendable offensive output (118), but a significantly worse defensive rating (116), which kept them out of the top four.

Panathinaikos Missed Final Four Due to Defensive Shortcomings

Panathinaikos allowed opponents to score 116 points per 100 possessions, worse than all teams in the Final Four. In comparison, Olympiacos had a defensive rating of 114.3, and Valencia was at 114, indicating better defensive performance than Panathinaikos and Olympiacos, as well as better offensive performance than Panathinaikos (ORTG 119.6).
