Emery: Major Challenge Awaits in Europa League Final
Aston Villa manager Unai Emery addressed the press ahead of the Europa League final against Freiburg.
Unai Emery, the manager of Aston Villa, spoke at a press conference ahead of the Europa League final against Freiburg, which will take place in the Tüpraş Stadium tomorrow. Emery stressed the importance of the team's collective and individual performance.
Emery, who is aiming for his fourth Europa League title, expressed confidence in his team’s ability to perform well. “We are here for the first time with Aston Villa. We played the semifinals three years ago, and this year we are in the final. We have played enough matches at the European level, and this experience is important for us. We have reached this point through learning. The tactical and individual aspects will be crucial tomorrow, but the emotional aspect is also present. This is a new challenge, and we have full confidence in ourselves,” Emery said.
Emery acknowledged that the team had faced difficulties at the beginning of the season but managed to overcome them with the right attitude. “We had a very bad start due to various reasons. The players’ reactions in tough times were excellent. We had many meetings, and the players managed to take control of the situation. We matured and acted responsibly at the right moments. Thanks to this, we are here today. The quality of my players is truly excellent. Reaching the final in the Premier League and in the Europa League is a huge progress. We have always worked together to find solutions in tough times. They gave the necessary responses, and we are here today because of that,” he added.
Regarding the health of Amadou Onana, Emery said, “Onana trained yesterday and will train today as well. We will see his condition tomorrow. We will see how he feels tomorrow. He is a crucial player for us. My confidence is full.”
Emery'nin güveni bizi heyecanlandırıyor, ama Freiburg'un oynama stili ne olacak? Bu final, her iki takım için de tarihi bir an olacak.
