A dramatic turn of events in Serie A saw Lecce narrowly avoid relegation with a last-minute goal by Nikola Stulic against Sassuolo in a make-up match. The decisive goal came in the 96th minute, securing Lecce's survival in Serie A.
Before this game, Cremonese had climbed out of the relegation zone after defeating Udinese. However, Stulic’s goal changed everything. Lecce previously led twice in the match, first with a goal by Kedira in the 14th minute and then again in the 25th minute. Sassuolo equalized twice, once through Loriente in the 20th minute and again through Pinamonti in the 82nd minute. Nevertheless, Lecce secured the three points in the end.
Cremonese remains in the relegation zone despite a goal by Jamie Ward in the 9th minute, which secured a 1-0 win against Udinese. This was the only goal scored in Cremonese’s match.
The current standings show Cremonese with 34 points and Lecce with 35 points. In the final round, Cremonese faces Como, a team battling for the Champions League, while Lecce hosts Genoa. It appears that Stulic's team is now on the brink of survival.
