The River Boils: Dragons Descend on Belgrade

Mark the calendars, because the Sava is about to shake! The Serbian Dragon Boat Federation and the Chinese Cultural Center in Belgrade, backed by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, are launching the third edition of the "Nihao China" China–Serbia International Dragon Boat Festival. The date? June 6 and 7, 2026. The arena? The lush banks of Ada Ciganlija. This isn't just a race; it's a collision of ancient tradition and modern athleticism, bringing together thousands for a spectacle that blends sport, culture, and the enduring friendship between Serbia and China.

Paddles, Power, and Corporate Clash

Expect chaos, expect glory, expect synchronized fury. The centerpiece is the international dragon boat races, featuring clubs from Serbia and abroad. Competitors will tear through the water in men's, women's, and mixed categories, sprinting over 200 and 500-meter courses. But it’s not just the elites. The corporate dragon boat races are the real buzzkill for the competition—teams from major Serbian and international companies will battle for supremacy. It’s the world’s most intense team-building exercise, where office politics are replaced by raw power, endurance, and the need to stay alive in the boat. Expert coxswains will guide these corporate crews as they paddle for pride and bragging rights.

Culture Meets Competition

While the paddlers break sweat, the shore will be alive with culture. The festival celebrates the Duanwu Festival, a UNESCO-listed intangible cultural heritage event. Visitors can expect traditional Chinese music, dance, kung fu demonstrations, and tai chi exhibitions. The grand opening ceremony kicks off Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM near Cafe Pajper, with the first races starting at 9:00 AM. Following two successful editions, this year promises hundreds of participants, diplomatic dignitaries, and business leaders. The dragons are coming. Are you ready?
