Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic will begin the second Grand Slam of the year this Sunday at the Roland Garros, facing French player Djovani Mpechi Perikar in the first round. Ahead of his match against a high server and generally before the start of the tournament, Djokovic held an official media conference.

In the Paris venue, Nole answered questions from reporters, one of which concerned the recently equaled Golden Masters record of Janik Sinner, who completed all the 1000 series tournaments and thus equaled the Serbian.

"I want to congratulate him again. An incredible achievement for him and his team. A lot has been said about how impressive he is on all surfaces. People may have doubted whether he would be as dominant on clay as on hard court, but he has proven he can do both."

As one of only two players in history to have won the Golden Masters, I know how difficult that is. I really congratulate him, especially since he is still very young. He has many years ahead of him. I think he will now be aiming for the Golden Slam here. He is in the best form of his life, and the absence of Carlos adds to his chances of winning more Grand Slam titles."

"We are all here to try and defeat him and prevent him from winning more trophies. We saw last night on the court that he lost for only the third time this year to Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina in an exhibition match. I told him he would lose to Gael if he didn't raise his game."

He then spoke about Monfils.

But joking aside, I want to say a few words about Gael. He is a friend, a rival, and someone I have admired since our 13th or 14th year. It was a beautiful evening and an incredible atmosphere. He deserves every second of the celebration of his career. I don't know anyone who doesn't like Gael. One of my favorite players to watch. An incredible athlete. I am looking forward to watching his final Roland Garros - said Novak Djokovic.
