Dion Drena Beljo of Dinamo was named the best player of the Croatian First Football League (SHNL) for the 2025/2026 season at the traditional Trofej Nogometaš awards. The award, organized by the Croatian Football Union (HUNS), recognizes excellence in the league based on votes from players and coaches. This year, Dinamo’s strategy coach, Mario Kovačević, won the best coach award.
Beljo Named Best Player, Kovačević Coach of the Year
In the best player vote, Dion Drena Beljo secured victory with 78 votes, followed closely by his Dinamo teammate Josip Mišić, who garnered 64 votes. Hajduk's Marko Livaja finished third with 37 votes. The voting process included 224 players and 50 coaches.
Mario Kovačević of Dinamo was awarded the best coach title with 20 votes. Gonzalo García of Hajduk secured nine votes, and Nikola Šafarić of Varaždin received eight votes.
Top Lineup of the Season
The top eleven players of the season feature heavily with Dinamo representation, with five players on the ideal lineup. The team includes goalkeeper Marko Malenica (Osijek), defenders Marko Pajač (Lokomotiva), Scott McKenna (Dinamo), Sergi Dominguez (Dinamo), and Ante Oreč (Rijeka). In midfield are Josip Mišić (Dinamo), Luka Stojković (Dinamo), and Toni Fruk (Rijeka), and the forward trio comprises Dion Drena Beljo (Dinamo), Marko Livaja (Hajduk), and Jakov Puljić (Vukovar 1991).
Awards for Jagušić, Livaković, and Opus Arena
Adriano Jagušić from Slaven Belup was named the best young player (under 21 years) with 72 votes. Sergi Dominguez from Dinamo and Rokas Pukštas from Hajduk shared the second position with 40 votes each.
Dominik Livaković from Dinamo was named the best goalkeeper of the season with 159 votes, ahead of Ivor Pandur (Hull City) and Dominik Kotarski (FC Copenhagen).
The award for the best pitch in the SHNL went to the Osijek Opus Arena with 177 votes, followed by Poljud (38 votes) and Maksimir (11 votes).
dion drena beljo deserves this recognition after his stellar performance all season. not surprised at all to see dinamo dominating these awards. just hope they can keep it up in the next season.
