Darko Nejašmić, the former Hajduk and Osijek player, is experiencing the best days of his career at the Dutch club NEC. His team recently secured a place in the Europa League qualifiers, and Nejašmić has been honored with a significant individual award for his contribution to one of the most successful seasons in club history.

Player of the Season

NEC supporters have declared Croatian defender Nejašmić the best player of the club in a historic season, underscoring the high regard in which they hold his performances. "Members of the NEC Supporters' Association voted Darko Nejašmić as the player of the year for the 2025/2026 season. In an online vote, he secured 55% of the votes. Kodai Sano came second with 20% of the votes, while Bryan Linssen took third with 15%," the supporters' association announced.

Key to Team Stability

Nejašmić started 26 out of 29 matches this season from the first minute, clearly demonstrating his importance to the coach's plans and the team's balance. The Croatian player concluded the season with four goals and one assist, but his contribution went beyond the numbers. His stability in the defensive line, ball possession confidence, and play in both directions made him one of the most reliable players for NEC throughout the season.
