The Dallas Mavericks confirmed last night that Jason Kidd has been relieved of his duties as head coach after five seasons with the team.
The NBA club stated that they have parted ways with Kidd, describing the move as a mutual decision. This comes just two weeks after the Mavericks appointed Masai Ujiri as their new club president.
"As we evaluate the future of our basketball program, we believe this is the right time to chart a new course for our team. We have high expectations for this franchise and a responsibility to build a basketball organization capable of sustained title contention," Ujiri said in a statement.
"We will conduct a thorough, disciplined search for our next head coach and continue to evaluate our entire basketball operations staff to ensure we compete at the standards that Mavericks fans deserve and expect," he added.
Kidd's tenure with the Mavericks included a regular season record of 205-205 and a playoff record of 22-18. He led the team to the Western Conference Finals in 2022 and the NBA Finals in 2024.
I can't believe they let Jason Kidd go after all he's done for the Mavericks! What were they thinking? This move is just plain crazy!
