The fourth day of the open European Senior Championship in Olympic classes ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 is taking place in Marinite Kaštela. Two regatta fields were set up in the waters off the southern side of Čiovo, with the Maestral wind reaching up to 20 knots. Croatian sailor Filip Jurišić has risen to 7th place.
Sailing Competition Continues
The competition began in the final groups: gold, silver, and bronze, with a total of 328 sailors from 53 countries competing for the rankings.
In the ILCA 7 class, after seven scored races, New Zealander George Gautrey leads with 23 negative points, Cypriot Pavlos Kontides is in second place with 23 points, and German Philipp Buhl is in third with 27 points. Croatian representative Filip Jurišić is in 7th place with 48 points, while Tonči Stipanović is in 36th place with 115 points. The best in the under-23 category is Norwegian Theodor Middelthon, who is in 12th overall.
Women's Competition Continues in Gold Group
In the ILCA 6 class for women, the lead has been taken by Hungarian Maria Erdi with 31 points, followed by American Charlotte Rose with 32 points and Belgian Emma Plasschaert with 33 points. Croatian representative Petra Marendić is in 27th place and continues to compete in the gold group, while Petra Mastelić is sailing in the silver group.
In the men's ILCA 6 class, Italians dominate, with Claudio Crocco leading with 10 points, Lorenzo Ghirotti in second with 12 points, and Giovanni Bedoni in third with 16 points. Among the home representatives, Toma Smirčić is in 4th place, Edi Jurman in 7th, and Mislav Barčot in 8th overall.
Friday's Final Races
"Thursday will also bring top races at sea, as we are expecting a bura wind according to the forecast. The start is again set for noon, and the plan is to hold two races for women and three for men. The final day of the European Championship, Friday, will end with two more races, so we aim to have the planned 12 races for scoring," said judge Zlatko Jakelić.
