Croatian MMA fighter Ivana Petrović returned to the winner's circle with a dominant performance at Oktagon 88 in Hannover. Petrović, the sole Croatian with experience in the UFC, faced off against experienced Swiss fighter Danielle Misteli, securing a technical knockout in the first round. Her performance was dominant from the start in the bantamweight category.
Dominance from the First Second
Petrović demonstrated her determination from the start of the match. She immediately took the center of the cage and began with precise boxing combinations, particularly showcasing quick direct punches. "The Lady" attempted to retaliate with low kicks, but after the second attempt, Petrović capitalized on the opportunity and brought the 49-year-old Swiss fighter to the ground. Once on the ground, Petrović took full control. From a superior position, she delivered a series of elbow and knee strikes, inflicting increasing damage on her opponent. She quickly moved to the back and continued with head strikes. Despite Misteli's efforts to escape the dire situation, Petrović did not let up. Just over a minute and a half before the end of the round, Petrović transitioned into a full mount position and forced her opponent to tap out with a devastating series of strikes, sparing Misteli further injury.
"I Know Who I Am, I’m a Champion"
Following her convincing victory and return to winning ways, the 31-year-old Mostar native, now based in Norway, stated: "I lost a few matches, but I didn’t let that define me. I know who I am, I am a champion and I will continue to prove it."
This victory marks the eighth win in Petrović's professional career, which also includes four losses. She returned to the cage with a win following her loss to Sarra Luzar Smajić at FNC in Podgorica last December.
