From Concrete to Destiny

The "Vatreni" left Rijeka on Saturday afternoon, but before settling in Zagreb for their upcoming clash with Slovenia in Varaždin, they stepped onto sacred ground. Or rather, ground that is becoming sacred. The Croatian national team toured the future headquarters of the Croatian Football Federation, and the verdict? Pure satisfaction. Behind piles of gravel and steel reinforcement, the skeleton of a football temple is rising. This isn't just a building site; it's the future home of Croatian football.

Duje Ćaleta-Car didn't mince words during the inspection. "Croatia deserves a good, quality, and beautiful camp," he declared. "I look forward to the day future great players of Croatia will rise here." The vision is clear: a main stadium with stands for 1,500 fans, modern locker rooms, a high-end gym, and administrative offices. It’s a facility designed for elite performance, conveniently located near Zagreb Airport, streamlining logistics for the national squad.

Fit for Battle

Construction is moving fast. The contractor, Kamgrad, reports progress ahead of schedule. The complex will feature four training pitches, an athletic track, a sports hall, and medical facilities. But beyond the bricks and mortar, the focus remains on the pitch. Ćaleta-Car addressed his back issue, noting improvement daily. "I want to be at 100% when we arrive in America," he said, targeting full fitness for the World Cup.

The immediate target is Slovenia, a crucial test before facing England. "We go for the win," Ćaleta-Car stated. Petar Sučić, preparing for his World Cup debut, echoed the optimism. "We must be satisfied and optimistic. If we go negative, nothing comes of it." Even the fans were present, with one supporter waving a Croatian flag at the construction site, greeted by HNS President Marijan Kustić and Mayor Krešimir Ačkar. The foundation is being laid, both in concrete and in spirit.

COMMENT: the new camp looks legit rn tbh. finally some proper facilities for the vatreni. Ćaleta-Car better be ready for Slovenia, can't afford to be rusty before England...
